ELLIOT Another Two Year Old Winner

Great to see another two year old winner added to our list – ROCKNROLL ELLIOT. Sold by Mike Howie’s Copper Lodge at the 2019 Yearling Sales for $14,ooo, this colt was seen to be a bit of a late developer.

Sent to trainer David Thompson, plenty of patience has been shown and ELLIOT has gone from strength to strength the past couple of weeks.

He had a 2nd and 4th in his four starts and drew br 4 for last Tuesday at GP. ROCKNROLL ELLIOT was driven by Shannon Suvaljko who had a dip for the lead and was then forced to face the breeze, got to the lead down the back straight and really won quite easily by 5m.

ROCKNROLL ELLIOT has got stronger with each run and PacingWA co-owner Dave Clement who has seen all his races was truly bedside himself with joy at the win.

So pleased for Dave who hasn’t had much luck with these before. ELLIOT looks like he could have some future. Congratulations Dave, David Thompson and Shannon.

That’s ROCKNROLL ELLIOT a week or two before the Yearling Sale

HORSES to Follow

ASKMEILLTELLYA and ROCKIN THE TREND are pictured above and are two fillies with trainer Kat Warwick.

ASKMEILLTELLYA won the 2 yr Old $100,000 Diamond Classic last year and then campaigned in ES, so it was quite a long campaign.

After spelling, ASKMEILLTELLYA came back to trials in March and winning well, however her first two starts have been a little off that. No doubt she will get back to that winning Diamond form so do keep following her.

ROCKIN THE TREND having won first up and then running second at her next start had everyone pretty happy -BUT – next start after only four days she galloped out quite badly. Who knows what made her do that and unfortunately it has put her ODM.

However, with Dylan Egerton-Green on board, she won her trial the other day. This means one more trial or start and she is back in the draw. So keep watching.

Two year old colt MACHNIFICENT – yep he is by Mach Three, and he was available as per our New Year post- he showed himself to be a little “running machine” with his win on Thursday 9 April at GP.

Drawing barrier 1 does make it easier, however this little colt trained by Kat Warwick just goes and goes. A very professional horse for 2 years of age.

Although it was a warm night, the last race of the night is not conducive to the best time, so a third qtr of 28.7 followed by a flat 27.00 = 55.7 last half is very impressive, given MACHNIFICENT basically did it all alone. He was driven by Gary Hall jnr. With some very nice two year old races coming up, there is a lot to look forward to with this colt, so congratulations Kat and Jnr.

New Exciting Horses

Really Good News to start 2020 for people looking to race horses here with lots of family and friends.

Firstly – PacingWA has 3 very promising two year olds looking for some happy people to come racing, with two of them looking to run in the 2020 $100,000 APG Sales Classic races.

Secondly – the RWWA Harness Office have advised that Harness Racing Australia (HRA) has very recently amended the Rules to allow ownerships of up to 20 people without the need for formal syndication. This is a change from the previous 10 owners that harness racing was restricted to compared to thoroughbreds.

KNOW WHEN TO RUN gave himself a chance to be part of the “big” four year old races with his win Friday night at GP .

Raced by TROTSYND and managed by PacingWA, the Justin Prentice trained horse basically led easily and won easily by 8m. KNOW WHEN TO RUN has had only one start since June and was a bit disappointing on 6 November, but Justin now has him back to his best and he’ll certainly improve off the run as well.

From only 12 lifetime starts, KNOW WHEN TO RUN has won 5 races with 6 places and has certainly justified the faith of those who stayed with him when he was sidelined as a 2 yr old with hairline fracture of a front pastern.

Hope to see him next week in the $125k 4 yr Old Classic and the $200k Golden Nugget on the 13 December.
Congratulations everyone.

HAS NO FEAR awarded RWWA 3 Yr old Filly of 2019

At yesterday’s RWWA 2019 Horse of the Year Awards function, our PacingWA managed TROTSYND filly HAS NO FEAR was awarded Three Year old Filly of the Year which is a very special achievement.

John Burt accepted the Award on behalf of all owners.

Jocelyn Young who drove “Lexie” to her Oaks win and Jocelyn’s first Group 1 win, was announced as the Young Achiever of the Year – a huge honour for Jocelyn and great recognition for her.

Trainer of HAS NO FEAR Justin Prentice – could have been awarded “amazing trainer” of the year if there was such an award, for the trainer who trained the most winners of Horse of the Year Awards. Justin trained four- those being Major Martini- 2 yr old Colt Gelding of the Year, Trotter of the Year Sun Of Anarchy, HAS NO FEAR and HORSE of the Year – ROCKNROLL LINCOLN.

Breeders of HAS NO FEAR- the Charles family – Kody, Annette and Kevin Charles.

Congratulations to everyone nominated and those who won the Awards.

Some reminders of our girl Lexie’s – HAS NO FEAR’s best win!

TRIPLE TREAT – MANNING makes it three Group 1 races in a season for PacingWA, and two of those with Trotsynd and he did this winning the $100,000 2 yr old Pearl Classic on Friday at GP.

Trained by an astute trainer of juveniles in Justin Prentice, he was driven patiently by Chris Lewis to overtake the other Justin trained horse Aristocratic Star and win by 2.7m in a good time (1.58.8) on a slightly rain affected track.

What’s so special about these wins is the huge number of syndicate owners, and for many, this is their first part ownership of a pacer.

How many owners can you fit on the track?– well the photos tell how many – and how happy.

MANNING is a WESTBRED by Sportswriter and named after esteemed sports journalist Ernie Manning- who after all these years still remains a humble and shy man, but he was pretty thrilled with his namesake’s win!

Bred by Steve Johnson out of mare Stephanie Rose, MANNING was purchased at the 2018 APG Perth Sale by PacingWA for Justin to train and to be offered to Trotsynd; and so the story began mid last year for many of the new syndicate owners
